We drive south west of Addis to the Archaeological site of Tya. Since 1965, from October to January each year, geologists and archaeologists have been camping by the Awash river at this point, because two millions years ago at the entrance to the gorge leaved some of the earliest ancestors of man kind. They left behind tools, traces of meals and shelters, which are now the focus of archaeological interest. We will be visiting this site and we will be back to Addis Ababa for an overnight stay in Ghion hotel. En route we will have chance to visit the countryside and in particular the Gurage people. Late afternoon you drive back to Addis Ababa.
